Indication
WHAT IS HAY FEVER?
What is hay fever? Hay fever is an allergy to pollen, i.e., to the pollen of plants. Grass and cereal pollen as well as early flowering trees such as hazel, alder and birch cause allergic reactions most commonly. The main flowering period is in spring and summer. Therefore, this kind of hay fever is called “seasonal”, i.e., the allergic rhinitis which is triggered at the respective pollen season. In contrast, there is also an all-season allergic rhinitis, i.e., the permanent allergic rhinitis which is triggered by house dust mites, animal hair or mould. Many people are affected by hay fever. Almost every fourth to fifth adult suffers from it.
WHAT IS Desloranio®?
Desloranio® is a newer generation antihistamine that helps against hay fever and dust mite allergy. It is one of the so-called 3rd generation antihistamines that does not make you sleepy and is now also available in pharmacies without prescription.
The newer generation of antihistamines with the active ingredient desloratadine makes you less tired, works faster and has fewer side effects than the first generation. Symptoms like sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy palate and itchy, red, or watery eyes are now a thing of the past. The improvement in these symptoms can last a whole day and help you resume your normal daily activities.

Antihistamine generations
Why does Desloranio® NOT MAKE YOU SLEEPY?
Antihistamines are classified according to H1, H2, H3 and H4 histamine receptors. However, only the H1 receptors are used in the treatment of allergy symptoms such as hay fever³. Within the H1 antihistamines, there is a subdivision into three generations:
H1 antihistamines of the 1st generation
The H1 antihistamines of the 1st generation pass through the blood-brain barrier and thus, enter the brain, which in turn can lead to side effects such as tiredness, headache, fatigue, dizziness or a dry mouth.
Active ingredients: clemastine, dimetindene and hydroxyzine.
H1 antihistamines of the 2nd generation
By contrast, the H1 antihistamines of the 2nd generation cross the blood-brain barrier only insignificantly and therefore, cause less tiredness and drowsiness.
Active ingredients: Loratadine, cetirizine, terfenadine, levocabastine, azelastine, mizolastine and ebastine.
H1 antihistamines of the 3rd generation
In fact, the 3rd generation is a progression of the 2nd generation differing in faster onset of action, longer duration of effectiveness and no tiredness.
Active ingredients: Desloratadine, Levocetirizine, fexofenadine and Bilastin.
Breathing freely
From my own experience I can confirm that it helps quickly against my sneezing attacks and runny nose and does not make me sleepy. In this way I can also enjoy the spring and the summer without any complaints and restrictions.
